FOUNDER & PROPOSED LEAD LABORATORY INSTRUCTOR
William is a working orbital welder with eight years in demanding, high-purity environments, including aerospace and semiconductor manufacturing. Today he welds stainless steel tubing from 0.250 to 2.500 inches in diameter on semiconductor project work at TSMC. He has completed more than 1,000 welds there, and 97% of them were signed off by QC/QA as acceptable to TSMC standards.
He programs and troubleshoots AMI and AXXAIR orbital welding machines and holds a Swagelok Orbital Welding Certification. He can diagnose both the machine and the program, which is what separates pushing a button from controlling a process.
His path to semiconductor work began at Service and Sales Inc. in Tempe, an aerospace company. There he performed high-purity orbital welding on stainless steel tubing under strict cleanliness standards, ran a mandrel tube bender, and supervised shop work. He then spent two years as a shop foreman on Intel semiconductor work. He welded and fabricated stainless piping systems under cleanroom precision requirements and trained and mentored junior team members in technique, safety and procedure. Lean practices he applied there contributed to a 15% gain in operational efficiency.
William teaches what he does every day. That means preparing and fitting tubing, verifying purge, running and troubleshooting the machine, and inspecting and documenting the result, all with safety and team discipline.
